As the only aluminium smelting company in Indonesia which has been being operated for around 3 decades in North Sumatra, it is appropriate if PT INALUM, socially, considers to take part to responsible for the welfare and economical and social living improvement of the local people where the Company locates, because the Company realizes and understands that the smoothness of the development and operational success cannot be separated from the support and cooperation from regional and local stakeholders. The company success and community independence surrounding the Company, on the other hand, are hoped can be created, run and grow together.

Besides that, the social welfare surrounding the company and the development of regional economy is a facility for the Company to achieve the Company’s vision, mission and values. Therefore, since the beginning of its construction, the policy of social responsibility towards the related local stakeholders still got full attention and support from the Company as it could support.

EDUCATION

To improve education quality, especially the local people who are fishermen and farmer in most,PT Inalum repairs schools, hands over furniture and other ancillaries, and builds 1 unit of High School Building, SMA Mitra.

This school is equipped with complete facilities and hoped to be able to improve education quality of those who live surround the company and they need not to go to the city which is far away from their houses.

Besides that, to improve education quality, PT Inalum also hands over computer sets and multimedia projectors to universities in North Sumatra.

PT Inalum also hands over educational assistance to model teachers and students, does training for school management, and scholarship for teachers who does not have Akta IV Certificate.The company also welcomes students who does their On the Job Training (OJT) and research.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

The company realizes that it cannot employ all people surrounding it. Therefore, the Company, since its construction, has done many trainings such as sewing, salon, workshop, and others. The company also distributes revolving fund to those who wants to expand their business.

The company wants local people not to depend on PT Inalum anymore and they can employ themselves and create employment.
 
SPORT AND CULTURE

To improve the quality of sport in North Sumatra, especially surrounding the Company, PT Inalum does various activities such as Open Football Tournament, Open Volley Ball Tournament, and others. PT Inalum is also active to be the sponsor of White Water along Asahan River, Canoeing at Lake Toba, Karate, and others.
 
The company also tries hard to preserve national culture by conducting Culture Festival which competes Dance and "Berbalas Pantun" Festival, and other cultural events.
 
RELIGION
 
In Religion, the company does not only assist to repair mosques and churches, but also other supporting facilities in both worship places.
 
Besides that, The company also does other activities such Safari Ramadan (Holy visit on Fasting Month), assistance for Idul Fitri and Idul Adha and Christmas and Easter and other activities.
 
PUBLIC FACILITIES
 
PT Inalum also constructs public facilities and the most important facility is access road which indirectly impact to the growth of other big industries and home industries in both plants.
 
Besides that the company also constructs alternative roads and bridges which connect remote area and tries to improve their economical condition.
 
The company also contract public facilities such as deep well, Posyandu, Multi Purpose Building, and others.
 
OTHER KINDS OF DONATION
 
Besides those above donation and assistance, the Company also does other activities such as Youth and Mas Organization, NGO, disaster and power supply to the Generation Unit of North Sumatra system by SWAP method. Those above activities are only some examples of what PT Inalum has done.
